Your friend lost his life in a crash on Oct 6th 1994. It involved a USAF-PACAF 33rd RQS 18 Wing HH-60G Pave Hawk no. 92-26404 attached to Kadena AB in Japan.
The helicopter hit a power line on a night mission near Jochewon South Korea. The entire crew was killed.

Ed Karlson was two classes behind me at Fort Rucker, AL when we went through flight (helo) training. He was an excellent pilot, but was a new aircraft commander with a new copilot and a new flight engineer in training on board when they hit the powerlines in South Korea. They were flying a lowlevel NVG trainer the best I can remember.
